| | NAB 2023 Las Vegas, April 2023 We really enjoyed our time at NAB 2023 in April. It was great to be back in Las Vegas again and meet customers and friends face to face. There were more than 65,000 registered attendees, so it looks as though our big broadcast and media events are well on the way to returning to pre-pandemic levels
At NAB we focused on our 8K DFT POLAR HQ film scanner and announced it’s new WetGate system. We gave lots of demonstrations to illustrate its capability and highlighted the benefits of 8K over 4K deliverables. It seems that 8K is starting to become an important topic for the US market.
| | Broadcast Asia Singapore, June 2023 In June, DFT exhibited at Broadcast Asia in Singapore. We were part of the German Pavillion in Hall 5 and shared a stand with Prasad and with one of our partners, Cube-Tec. We took the opportunity to present our thoughts on 4K/8K and demonstrated what is possible when film is ingested at 8K, using content we created on our POLAR HQ scanner. | Upcoming Events in 2023 Please add the following dates to your diary – it would be great to see you: IBC 2023, Stand 7.C24 15 -18 September 2023, RAI Amsterdam, The Netherlands We are really looking forward to next IBC! We will be exhibiting with some of our latest kit, and it would be great to see you in Amsterdam! If you would like to secure your free of charge IBC ticket, be our guest and register here using the DFT ticket code "IBC5406". AMIA Conference 2023 15 -17 November 2023, Tulsa, OK, USA Next on the list in the US will be the AMIA conference, which is always a superb event for content owner, film producer and archives. | New Sondor Versa & Resonances installed at Cinecittà, Rome, Italy Adriano Fabio (Cinecittà) comments:
"Our audio department has grown with the arrival of the Sondor Versa and Resonances. The machine is a must-have for sound transfer and digitization, we have a total of 8 headblocks (between optical and magnetic) which allows us to easily handle any materials at the best quality: 16mm, 17.5mm and 35mm. Thanks to Resonance module our precious heritage can be handled in the best way and at optimum quality, which is not obvious for such fragile and critical materials as ours. We are fully satisfied with the Sondor Versa & Resonances, because it allows us to preserve and enhance our archival materials, many of which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage."

| ...and finally – Meet the Team! We’ve been growing and expanding the team at DFT and we thought you’d like know a bit more about some of our new team members. Today we introduce Kai Bellhäuser! |
| Name: Kai Bellhäuser What do you do at DFT?
I have recently joined DFT as a production engineer, working closely with research and development, support and order desk teams. One of my main tasks is ‘productisation’ which involves the transition of new scanners from the R&D team through to fully tested, ready-to-go commercial scanners ready for the market.
What is your favourite movie and why?
My favourite movie is “The Dark Knight”. I’ve been a huge Batman fan since I was young – he doesn’t have any superpowers (although he does have lots of money!) but still manages to defeat his enemies and protects the citizens. I'm also fascinated by the character of the Joker and the great acting of Heath Ledger (R.I.P.).
If you could invite a movie star to dinner, who would it be and why?
That's a very difficult question, but if I had to choose someone, I would choose an actor with a lot of humour and a positive aura. Maybe Kevin Hart or Ryan Reynolds. I expect it to be a very entertaining evening with lots of laughs.
What is your favorite cinema snack and drink?
Nachos with cheese dip and 2 litres of Coke!.
If you’re not at DFT or in the movies, what else do you enjoy? I'm always doing something! I love "crafting" and have recently acquired a 3D printer, so I now have endless possibilities when putting my ideas into practice. I’ve also been an avid gamer since childhood. My main hobby, however, is sport, and I spend about 1-2 hours in the gym, 3-5 days a week. | The small print... You can see our privacy policy here.
